You need:
  • The Ottie box.
  • A smartphone, Android or iOS where you install the Ottie app.
  • Your home Wi-Fi password to connect the Ottie box.
  • Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar and select Open Network Preferences.
  • Find the Ottie-protected network on the list and click Advanced.
  • Drag the Ottie-protected network to the top of the list.
  • Click OK to save the changes.
  • Click the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray and select ‘Network & Internet settings’.
  • Click ‘Wi-Fi’ on the left sidebar.
  • Find the Ottie-protected network on the list and click ‘Connect’.
  • Once connected, click the Wi-Fi icon again and select ‘Open Network & Internet settings’.
  • Scroll down and click ‘Change adapter options’.
  • Find the Ottie-protected network on the list, right-click on it, and select ‘Properties’.
  • Click the ‘Configure’ button next to ‘Client for Microsoft Networks’.
  • Click the ‘Advanced’ tab.
  • Find the ‘Priority and VLAN’ option and select ‘Priority’.
  • Use the up/down arrows to set the Ottie-protected network to the highest priority (usually 1).
  • Click ‘OK’ to save the changes.
    1. Open the terminal.
    2. Type ‘nmcli d wifi connect Ottie-protected’ (without the quotes) to connect to the Ottie-protected network.
    3. Type ‘nmcli c’ to list the available connections.
    4. Find the Ottie-protected network on the list and note its connection ID.
    5. Type ‘nmcli c modify [connection ID] connection.autoconnect-priority -999’ (without the quotes), replacing [connection ID] with the ID you noted in the previous step.
    6. Type ‘nmcli c up [connection ID]’to apply the changes and activate the Ottie-protected network.
    The Ottie solution requires you to buy an Ottie box and to take a monthly subscription. The prices are described on the Pricing page.
    When a new employee is invited with their email address, they will receive a link to a web page to enter theirmailing address to which the device will be shipped.
    The Wi-Fi Ottie protected is using WPA2.
    The Ottie box can connect to a Wi-Fi with WPA, WPA2 and WPA3.
    You need to power on your Ottie box and then press the reset button for 30 seconds.
    The Ottie SIM is inserted under the Ottie box and must not be removed.
    The top Ethernet port labeled 1GE LAN is used to connect your device via Ethernet to the Ottie box. The bottomEthernet port labeled 1GE LAN/WAN is used to connect your home router/modem to the Ottie box. The DCIN port is usedfor the power cord delivered with your Ottie box.
    The RESET button is used to reset the Ottie box to the factory settings by pressing it for 30 seconds. After that, youwill be able to redo the onboarding process with the Ottie app. The ON/OFF button is used to power on or off the Ottiebox. The power is on when the button is pushed. The front button is not currently used, but might be in the future.
    The meaning of the LEDs on your Ottie box is described on the pahe Ottie box LEDs.
    The Ottie box has a power button than must be pushed in to power it on.
    The Ottie box takes approximately 2 minutes to boot after being powered. The Ottie box is fully operational when thetop LED at the front is steady and green.
    The Ottie box has to be connected to your home network. I could be directly to the main router, but also throughanother switch or router in your home network.
    You have to configure your laptop to have Ottie as the default Wi-Fi network (Windows, MacOS & Ubuntu)
    We recommend placing the Ottie box not too far from a window to have good cellular coverage. The cellular coveragequality can be observed on the dashboard of the Ottie application. If you have connected the Ottie box to yourrouter using Wi-Fi, we also recommend to place it in the range of your Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi coverage quality can also beobserved on the dashboard of the Ottie application.
    Ottie ensures that you have a secure password and evaluates the security levelas you type. You have reached the desired complexity in your password only whenthe field becomes green.In order to increase the complexity, add characters to your password, preferablyspecial characters and not forming common words. The hints under the passwordfield can help you in the creation of your secure password.
    The onboarding process takes between 5 and 10 minutes on average.
    Your smartphone must be connected to the Wi-Fi access point from the router to which the Ethernet cable is pluggedin.
    This is allowed on Android using the Automatic SMS Verification.
    You have to use the same phone number as the one entered on the portal where you provided the delivery address.
    Notifications might be disabled in your phone. Please check your Settings.
    The Otties subscriptions are invoiced monthly on the first day of the month, and the Ottie boxes are invoiced within24h of the shipping address being filled by the employee on the web page.
    All invoices for your company can be found in the Ottie admin portal in the Billing page.
    You need to have invited users in order to have data in the dashboard of the Admin portal.
    You need a valid payment method to be able to add users. Please check the Billing page of the portal.
